JULY 2008

Flood!  What flood?

Some of you may already know that we had a devastating flood in May through the centre of the hotel.

A fault on the new water pump for our Butlers Room (the new attic room) was the culprit when its side split and gushed water out for over 8 hours!

With minimal business interruption and good support from the insurance company, we only had to close for 2 weeks.  During that time, a huge team of builders, plasterers and decorators came in and we’re now looking better than ever!

Following Russell’s successful TV career presenting his own gardening show on S4C, we’ve been struggling to find a replacement gardener – so we’re doing it ourselves! We must admit, on a sunny day, it is lovely to be outside and working.  Julian continues to mow the lawn on our new sit on mower and Andy is now a dab hand at strimming.

The garden is looking good at the moment and we’re managing to keep on top of the weeding.  We’re hoping to get the fountain in the pond working this summer and our hanging baskets are even better than last years. We could still do with some help in the garden though so we’re still on the look out for the right person.

We hope you can come and stay with us soon and enjoy all of the improvements.

Andy & Julian.

Country House Dinner Party Experience...

The Lodge...update

Evening meals have always been a difficult thing to provide.  It’s very difficult and not very cost effective to have several fresh home cooked dishes available for a small number of diners.

So, very soon, we will be completely changing the way we do things, particularly now our historic Gun Room has just been redecorated!

We will be offering a set menu rather than á la carte and it will be much more of a relaxed dinner party type atmosphere with everyone sitting round the same large table in the Gun Room. Home made canapés will begin the evening during pre-dinner drinks in the Drawing Room.  The five course set meal will take place in the Gun Room, followed by coffee back in the Drawing Room.

Plas Dinas Lodge, the two bedroom cottage at the top of our drive now has a new kitchen and bathroom and the complete renovation is expected to be completed by the end of August.

If you would like to book a week self-catering in the Lodge then please contact us for prices or check HERE.

There will be a sofa bed downstairs so the maximum occupancy will be 6 people. It’s already proving popular and some weeks are already booked so let us know early if you are interested in booking.

Don’t forget – you’ll still have the advantages of staying with us up at the house and can choose to have breakfast, dinner or drinks here to save driving anywhere.  You can also enjoy our extensive grounds too.

Pre-booking will be essential so please remember to contact us if you’d like to eat when you next stay.

SPECIAL OFFER - Book before 31st July and get 10% off your booking plus a bottle of bubbly in the fridge to welcome you when you arrive with our compliments!

Great Views In & Out...

Murder at Plas Dinas!

Intimate Weddings...

It used to be that people chose to stay in the Mount Room because of the views over the Mount towards the sea.  Now, the inside is just as appealing as the outside.

As we were closed anyway due to redecorating from flood damage, we took the opportunity to redecorate the Mount rather than waiting until winter as planned.

The room now has a great new look with bright white paintwork, a vivid feature wall and a new comfy seating area.

We’re really pleased with the new look (and glad to have gotten rid of the pink ceiling!).

The Mount is a Deluxe room.  If you’d like to stay in it next time you’re over, please add a note in the “Requests” box when you book on line.

That’s right, someone was murdered here recently – well not literally!  We had our new local murder mystery company host a night of entertainment for a group of lovely ladies from Prestatyn.

All the actors were dressed up and the evening went very well.  There was an act between each course of the meal and a bottle of bubbly was won by the person who guessed the murderer, their weapon and motive correctly.

Following its resounding success, we’re holding a special murder mystery night later in the year.  Anyone can come along that evening so keep an eye on our website or give us a call if you are interested on 01286 830214.

The sun is shining here and its often at this time of the year that couples are planning their wedding celebrations.  Plas Dinas is the ideal location for a small and intimate wedding – and we seem to have become a popular choice for honeymooners too.

We can cater in the house for up to 26 people – the ideal number if you’re just looking to celebrate with your closest family and friends.

The service is usually held in our Drawing Room, followed by drinks and canapés on the Terrace.  Depending on numbers, your wedding breakfast can either be in the Gun Room or the Dining Room, with coffee and cake back in the Drawing Room.

If you’d like to discuss your plans for either a civil partnership or wedding then please call either of us.
