Happy New Year to all our readers!

Well the snow drops are out as you can see, and the daffodils are already coming up. It’s times like now we’re glad we’re high on a hill as some poor people in the UK are having to worry about their properties flooding with all the rain we’ve had.  In between the rainy days, we’ve had some very pleasant sunny days giving our gardener chance to chop some more logs to be seasoned ready for next winter.

Since we slashed all our room rates with our “January Sale” we’ve been quite busy for this time of the year.  However keep any eye out for more offers in the months to come! It may be cold and windy but our log fire is hugely appealing!

In this issue, we’ll tell you what we’ve got planned for Valentine's Weekend, as well as big news on our rolling refurbishment programme.

We hope you can find the time to visit us in 2008 and take a well earned break in our beautiful surroundings!

Best Regards

Andy & Julian.

Valentine's Offer...

Helping Hand from Local College...

Plas Dinas is the ideal quiet romantic get away.  Treat yourself to a special meal in our restaurant and receive a free glass of bubbly in the Drawing Room before hand.  Book yourselves into one of our Deluxe Rooms (three of them are four poster, the other is a Super king size bed) for two nights, and we’ll put a presentation box of toiletries in your room to pamper yourselves with.

We currently have a Hospitality Management student with us two days a week from our local Menai College.  It’s a great opportunity for her to get involved with all aspects of the hotel trade and she seems to be enjoying it.  It’s also been very useful for us to have a helping hand and some new ideas from a different perspective.

Luxury Toiletries

Our Deluxe Rooms just got better! We are proud to be able to offer the luxury toiletries of French company L’Occitane en Provence in our Deluxe rooms.  We provide the Shea Butter range in shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion.

Rosie plans to move to London to run a large corporate hotel at the end of her course in June – a bit of a change from her home town of Pwllheli.

Rosie says “I’ve learnt a lot while I’ve been here and it’s been a very useful experience.  I will be recommending that other students come here in future”.

Keeping the Registrar Busy

Mini Museum takes shape

Rolls on...

Menna Williams, our local registrar is being kept busy at Plas Dinas at the moment. We’ve already had one wedding here this year.  Though it rained for part of the day the bride looked pretty in pink and everyone had a brilliant time at the reception and danced all evening

Menna is back with us in a few days time to do a civil partnership of a couple who have been together 37 years.  We’ve got several weddings booked throughout the year so she’ll be back regularly.

Plas Dinas is a really special place to get married and the atmosphere and history make it unique.  We only hold a very limited number of weddings each year making Plas Dinas a very exclusive venue.

If you are thinking of holding your wedding this year then call us now as we only have a few weekends still available in the main summer period.

We are working closely with Peregrine Armstrong-Jones to create a mini museum of the Armstrong-Jones family along our upstairs corridors.  We get asked many questions about the house, its history and the family.  With Peregrine’s kind assistance, we have a growing number of framed photographs, letters and memorabilia adorning our corridors.

We have grouped these into family members and are beginning to build a picture of the family through the years.  You can now see paintings of the original family members at Plas Dinas – Owen and Catherine Roberts back in 1838 right up to photos of Peregrine’s children, Robert and India.

We hope you enjoy looking at all the artifacts and hope we can continue to build up the collection.

Call us on 01286 830214 to book your preferred date.

Over the coming weeks we will have more builders and decorators around to continue with our internal refurbishment program. In fact so much is happening that we will be closed for a couple of weeks at the start of March to minimise disruption to our guests.

We are creating a new public toilet facility directly off the main hall with separate Ladies & Gents facilities. This will be much more convenient and pleasant for guests than the previous single WC in the Gun Room.

At the same time the woodchip will be coming off the upstairs corridors and replaced with swanky Laura Ashley wallpaper, and complimented with new lighting. Hopefully the corridors will see new re-carpeting by the summer too!

Finally, we will be added a new twin luxury suite on our second floor following an attic conversion. It will have its own luxury bathroom where you can sit in a steaming bath overlooking the rolling Welsh countryside. Watch this space for more updates!
