ISSUE FIVE

OCTOBER 2007

REACH FOR THE STARS...

Well folks, it’s been a while since our last newsletter and with just cause!

We’re glad to say it’s been a manic first summer season for us with most nights being full, week after week which continued well into September.  We’re sorry to all those people who called us but were unable to get a room when you needed one.

On top of that we’ve continued with our refurbishment, got married and appeared on TV!

Plas Dinas is well on its way to being the sort of place we always knew it could be – a beautiful location, with a warm and friendly atmosphere, great food, lovely staff and a delightful place to visit.

Read on to catch up on what’s been happening…

We're now 4 Stars!

Local Stars...

Visit Wales (the Welsh Tourist Board) graded us recently and we’re delighted to announce that we were awarded 4 stars!  All the hard work and improvements we’ve made seem to have paid off.  We’re still only about half way to where we want to be though.  We still have lots more improvements planned.

What do a pink carpet, outdoor concert sized speakers, pole dancing, fireworks, confetti cannons and 160 guests have in common?  They were all elements of our Civil Partnership celebration back in June.  This is what contributed to our being featured on an ITV Wales programme called “Wacky Welsh Weddings”.

We’re in discussions about upgrading all our linen so we have softer, fluffier towels and Egyptian cotton bedding.  We’ve ordered new chocolates for the rooms and we’ve just improved our wine list.

We are constantly changing things (much to the annoyance of our staff!) in order to try and improve the service and product we offer.

The TV show was watched by plenty of people as it was shown at prime time on a Friday evening.  We’re still getting recognised now!  We also had full page spreads in all the local newspapers.
Thank goodness the weather was fantastic – the only hot weekend in June.  The hotel featured well in the programme and we’ve had lots of wedding enquiries since.

Lucy Meacock, the news reader from Granada Tonight flew in with a helicopter crew recently to stay the night whilst filming her latest series “Eye in the Sky”.

We’ve had several helicopters land here, and they’re particularly welcome at the moment as they clear the lawn of leaves a lot quicker than our gardener can!

Incidentally, Andrew Ridgley of Wham! fame and his wife Keren Woodward popped in one morning to use our fax machine – long story!

We place a questionnaire in our bedrooms asking for guest feedback.  We thought it was a good idea to give you some feedback as a result!

We find them really useful and have been able to implement many improvements and changes as a result.

Here are some of the suggestions we've implemented:-
- arranged to add a couple more showers in the ensuites
- added Branflakes and another fruit juice for breakfast
- fresh flowers and milk in Deluxe rooms
- changed our breakfast and check out times at weekends
- added pens to all rooms
- extra power sockets & dressing tables put into selected rooms

The list of improvements is extensive as you can see – so thanks to everyone who took a few minutes to fill one in.
