Lights, camera, action!
We should have an equity card the amount of filming we’ve been doing lately. Andy has been interviewed for 20/20 on ABC TV in the US and then last week for Entertainment Tonight in Canada – both concerning the Royal wedding and Prince William’s recent visit here.
Closer to home, we’ll be on Channel 4 soon. We’re appearing (probably in June) on “Four in a Bed”. Despite the provocative title, for those who have not seen it, it’s like “Come Dine With Me”. It will be on around 5pm each night of the week.
Each night, one of four B&Bs hosts the other owners and at the end, each pays only what they think their stay was worth.
The last series had 1.2 million viewers who get to see how fab your place is (or isn’t in some cases!) and we hope to get a surge of bookings.
We’ll be doing a press release when we know the broadcast date.
There seems to be a growing trend for a “minimoon” rather than a honeymoon nowadays. We’re finding more and more couples are spending a few relaxing days away in the UK after their wedding rather than the traditional week abroad.
As we seem to be getting a steady flow of “minimooners” we thought we’d put a package together with them in mind to make it an extra special experience.
So, stay in the honeymoon suite – the Princess Margaret Suite for three nights for just £675 and get all this included…
- Gift box of Molton Brown goodies
- Bottle of cava on ice on arrival
- Candlelit three course dinner
Don’t forget we have a wedding licence so you can get married here too!

Spring is in the air!
Well there’s no denying it’s spring at Plas Dinas…it’s the epitome of all that is spring like!
From the lambs playing in the fields, to the carpet of bluebells and daffs on the Mount, to the tinkling of the fountain in the pond (drowned out by the noise of Julian mowing his stripes into the lawn) and guests enjoying a glass of wine and the views on one of the many benches dotted around. It has to be our favourite time of the year.
We’ve got lots to tell you about…we’ve been filmed for three TV programmes, had more celebs here and done some upgrading of rooms and a new bathroom in the Mount – sometimes we wonder how we find the time to sleep. Oh, and in between we fitted a new stairs carpet and entertained several groups of international journalists!
We know it’s not very green but I say print this out, grab a cuppa and a slice of cake and enjoy reading our news in the sunshine with your feet up – you deserve it!
Hope to see you soon.
P.S. We hope you like our new-look newsletter, which comes ahead of our website relaunch in the next few weeks - stay tuned!
Alan Carr came to stay with us a few weeks ago. He was appearing in a hilarious show down at the Galleri at Victoria Doc in Caernarfon. He was supported by comedian Josh Widdicombe who also was a guest that evening.
He’s just like he is on TV and was very funny. It turned out he’s a big fan of “Four in a Bed” and so he’s now looking forward to seeing our show on Channel 4!
The Galleri have some great acts on so it’s always worth keeping an eye on their website then combining a show with a night away with us. More info can be found at: http://www.galericaernarfon.com/en/home
We’re giving a great discount on mid-week nights away (Sunday to Thursday) during April and May. Stay any two nights in a Superior room for just £99 per room per night B&B!
To qualify, just book on our website and quote “£99 Offer” in the “Comments” box. Excludes Bank Holidays.
For the third time in only four and a half years, we decided to refit the Mount Room.
As we’re 5 star now, we felt the Mount needed a make over. The bathroom was ripped out completely and our friendly plumber Mark and his mate came to stay for a week to refit the new one.
The result is a fantastic floor to ceiling marble-look tiled area with a rain head power shower (you won’t want to get out). It has a large bath and a flashy LED heated mirror.
The bedroom has a new super king bed along with new curtains and bed linen. The overall look is more boutique in style. You’ll be able to see the room in detail if you watch the upcoming series of "Four in a Bed"
We’ve taken on a local lad called Darren who will be helping us out during the next six months. Like all of us, he’ll be involved in all aspects of the business – from house keeping to gardening, waiting on to bar work.
He seems to be enjoying it so far, having only been with us a few weeks. He’s getting used to our picky ways and finding out just how high standards have to be for 5 star.
Darren is keen to get a permanent job in the future within the hospitality industry so working for us will give him a good base of experience when he goes to job interviews in the future.
